Dear Senator/Representative As a physician, I have had the pleasure of caring for patients in a system which has allowed and fostered patient decision-making in consultation with the patient's physician. Our current system is superior to any other health care system. A tremendous amount of money has been allocated in the current proposed budget and in the recently passed stimulus package for health care "reform". Despite the rhetoric and claims to the contrary, it is clear that the push for "universal health care" signifies an attempt to change the system of health care delivery from one which allows patient physician decision-making to one in which a government bureaucracy makes decisions for the individual. Since we have examples of how this works in other countries, there is little doubt that the proposed changes will lead to a loss of patient autonomy, delay in the provision of appropriate care, and ultimately a rationing of health care. I DO NOT want the government to be involved in my patients' healthcare. I will be looking at how you vote on this issue and will be considering this strongly when deciding how I will vote in the next election. Sincerely,
