| We, the undersigned, implore you, the United States Government, to leave our healthcare system alone. No system is perfect, but, the current United States healthcare system is far superior to any alternative that currently exists in any other nation. It is obvious to us that the intention is to replace our current healthcare system with a government-run, bureaucratic system which will remove decision-making from the patient in consultation with the patient's physician, and ultimately lead to delayed treatment, denied treatment, and rationing of health care, as is the case with similar models throughout the world. While we support a solution for those who do not currently have access to medical care, we know the TRUE number of uninsured American citizens who are unable to afford healthcare and do not qualify for one of the existing government programs (a number closer to 4 to 8 million, not the 46 million so frequently mentioned) does not justify the proposed transformation of the entire system, in the process adversely impacting the remaining 300 million U.S. citizens. We will be watching how you vote on this issue and will be considering it strongly when deciding how to vote in future elections. | |
